Devil's Hopyard State Park is built around 60 ft Chapman Falls on Eight Mile River in East Haddam. The main day-use lot sits right at the falls. A covered bridge, the Vista Trail, and the orange-blazed Loop Trail add 1–3 mi of easy-to-moderate walking. Swimming is not a designated use.
