At a glance
Overview
Great Pond is the largest of the Belgrade Lakes, about 8,500 acres of water between Belgrade and Rome in Kennebec County. It is the lake of E.B. White's 'Once More to the Lake' and the core of the classic Maine summer-camp scene, with multiple town landings, cottages, and a busy summer boat traffic pattern. Shore access is limited to public landings and a few small beach areas; the rest is private.
