Overview
Moose Cave is a deep slot gorge on the Bear River inside Grafton Notch State Park in Newry, Oxford County. A short loop from the signed roadside lot drops onto a fenced viewing platform over the narrow, dark cavity where the river has cut through the bedrock. It is a viewing stop only: the gorge is extremely dangerous, named for a moose that fell in and could not be recovered.

Getting there
From Route 26 in Grafton Notch State Park, use the signed Moose Cave / Mother Walker lot and follow the short loop down to the fenced viewing platform over the gorge. The tread is short and rooted; stay behind the railings.
