Popham Beach State Park is a long Atlantic sand beach at the mouth of the Kennebec and Morse rivers in Phippsburg, Sagadahoc County. It is one of Maine's largest sand beaches, with dunes, tide flats, and views of Fox and Wood islands. Currents around the river mouths are strong and shift with the tide, and the water stays cold most of the summer.

Getting there
From Bath, take Route 209 south through Phippsburg to the state park entrance at Popham. Stop at the gate, pay the day-use fee, and park in the main beach lot. Walk through the dune boardwalks to the sand.
