Abol Falls
T2 R9, Maine
A cascade on the West Branch of the Penobscot near Abol Bridge, at the gateway to Baxter State Park.
At a glance
Overview
Abol Falls is a cascade on the West Branch of the Penobscot River near Abol Bridge, just south of the Baxter State Park boundary. It is a Katahdin-country landmark more than a swim stop, with views across the river toward the mountain from the bridge area. Current below the falls is fast and cold; treat this as a scenic viewing and photography stop, not a wade.
