At a glance
Overview
The Cataracts is a chain of cascades, pools, and flumes on Frye Brook in Andover West Surplus, along the Appalachian Trail corridor in the Mahoosucs. It is a genuine back-country waterfall walk rather than a roadside stop; expect rough footing and slick ledge. Flow spikes fast after rain, which is also when the drops look best.
