Lewiston Falls
Auburn & Lewiston, Maine
Historic Androscoggin River drop between Lewiston and Auburn, now a dam-regulated industrial-heritage site.
At a glance
Overview
Lewiston Falls is the historic Androscoggin River drop between Lewiston and Auburn in Androscoggin County, the reason the Twin Cities exist as a 19th-century mill center. The site is now heavily regulated by the Monty dam; viewing is from the Great Falls overlook and downtown riverwalks. It is an urban industrial-heritage scenic stop, not a swim site.
