At a glance
Overview
Lower Rumford Falls is the lower step in the Rumford Falls sequence on the Androscoggin River in downtown Rumford, below the paper-mill dam and Route 2 bridge. Most of the dramatic flow is controlled by the hydro and mill operations; the lower drop is a river-cascade visible from the in-town park and the bridge. It is a scenic and industrial-heritage stop, not a swim.
