Overview
Man of War Brook Falls is the Acadia National Park cascade that drops directly into the west side of Somes Sound, reached from the Valley Cove / Flying Mountain trail system on the Mount Desert side. Historic references note ships once filled barrels from the falls in the sound. It is a short hiker stop with a coastal view; do not try to descend to the water line.

Getting there
From Fernald Point Road on the southwest side of Mount Desert, use the Valley Cove / Flying Mountain trailhead and follow the shoreline trail along Somes Sound to the brook crossing. The falls are just off the trail at the sound.
