The trail to the bottom is very steep, considered strenuous. CAUTION - Swimming or even walking on the riverbank above the falls is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. An article in the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel recounts what happened to a couple that were visiting the falls : \"The (two visitors to the falls) were not swimming above the falls. She had simply waded into the pool above the dam to get her feet wet. She was very aware that the waterfalls were there,\" the warden said. \"She had been there before. She lost her footing, was swept away and called for help. He went out after her, and they both fell over.\" From Waterville, go northwest on RT 201 through Skowhegan for a total of about 60 miles (past the turn off to \"HOUSTON BROOK FALLS\" swimming hole in Bingham) to The Forks (just short of West Forks).
