Overview
Ripogenus Gorge and Falls is the deep gorge section of the West Branch Penobscot River below Ripogenus Dam, in the unorganized townships T3 R12 and T3 R11 WELS, Piscataquis County. The gorge is classic Class V whitewater and one of the most committing runs in the Northeast. For almost all visitors this is a viewpoint from the Cribworks and Telos Road pull-offs, not a walk-in stop.

Getting there
From Millinocket, follow the Golden Road past Ambajejus toward Ripogenus Dam, then use the Cribworks and Telos Road pull-offs that overlook the gorge. The Golden Road is a private logging corridor with timber and rafting traffic. Stay back from the rim on wet rock.
