At a glance
Overview
This Screw Auger Falls is the slot-canyon chute in Gulf Hagas, the 100-Mile Wilderness gorge on the West Branch Pleasant River in T7 R9 NWP (Bowdoin College Grant East), Piscataquis County. It is reached from the KI gate road at the Hay Brook / Gulf Hagas trailhead, then a multi-mile walk on the gorge rim trail; this is not the Grafton Notch Screw Auger (Newry, Oxford County), which is a separate row. Cold water, polished ledge, and deep pools define the place.
