At a glance
Overview
Smalls Falls is a tiered roadside waterfall on the Sandy River just south of Rangeley, off Maine Route 4 in Township E on the Oxford / Franklin border. The state rest area has a public lot, pit toilets, and a short walk to the viewing decks above the chute and plunge pools. It is one of western Maine's most photographed summer stops; crowds are real on weekends and the rock is treacherously slick.
