Veazie Falls · Veazie Dam
Veazie, Maine
Stretch of the lower Penobscot in Veazie where the historic Veazie Dam once stood; the dam was removed in 2013.
At a glance
Overview
Veazie Falls / Veazie Dam marks a stretch of the lower Penobscot River in the town of Veazie, just upstream of Bangor. The historic Veazie Dam was removed in 2013 as part of the Penobscot River Restoration Project, so the old pool-and-dam feature is gone; the river now runs free here and the reach is better known for fish passage and shoreline viewing than for a waterfall. Expect bank-level river viewpoints, not a classic cascade.
