Harwich, Massachusetts
Undeveloped DCR kettle pond in Hawksnest State Park, East Harwich. No lifeguards or facilities; informal shoreline swim.
At a glance
Overview
Hawksnest Pond sits inside Hawksnest State Park — a ~220-acre DCR property in East Harwich with three kettle ponds (Hawksnest, Black, Olive's) and zero amenities. There is no lifeguard, no bathhouse, and no maintained beach; access is by sand and dirt paths from an unimproved Route 137 pull-off. Swimmers use informal sand openings worn into the shoreline. Bring water, pack out trash, and mind the poison ivy.
