Overview
Monterey Town Beach is the public beach on Lake Garfield at 78 Tyringham Road in Monterey. Lifeguards are on duty roughly June 22 to Labor Day, noon to 6 p.m., with a roped swim area and a small sandy shore. Spots directly in front of the beach are reserved for lake residents; non-residents use the designated grass parking area north of the beach. No dogs, no alcohol, no inflatables.

Getting there
From the center of Monterey, follow Tyringham Road to the town beach at 78 Tyringham Road. Resident stickers are required to park at the lakefront spots; non-residents use the grass lot north of the beach, then walk back along the road to the beach entrance.
