At a glance
Overview
The Mount Tom Quarry is an abandoned traprock quarry inside Mount Tom State Reservation in Holyoke, acquired by DCR in 2022 after a long legal fight over a proposed fill project. Swimming in the flooded quarry is not permitted — DCR has installed fencing and barriers on approach routes because of the cliff walls, unstable edges, and submerged debris. Use the Quarry Trail as a rim-view stop and stay out of the pit.
