At a glance
Overview
The Arches, also known as the Keystone Arch Bridges, are the 1840s stone railroad arches spanning the West Branch of the Westfield River along the Becket–Chester–Middlefield line. The common approach is the Keystone Arch Bridges Trail from the Chester side — about 2.5 miles one way to the main arches. River pools below are rocky and cold; it is a swim for strong swimmers, not a beginner spot.

Getting there
The standard approach is the Keystone Arch Bridges Trail trailhead off Herbert Cross Road in Chester. Follow the blazed rail-bed trail west toward the arches; the swim pools are in the West Branch Westfield River beneath and between the stone bridges.
