At a glance
Overview
Ruggles Pond is the small beach pond inside Wendell State Forest, a quiet DCR property in the Pioneer Valley hilltowns of Franklin County. The day-use area has a sandy swim beach, picnic tables, changing rooms, and seasonal lifeguards during posted summer hours. Trails fan out from the pond for walks under hemlock and hardwood cover. It is an off-the-main-road state forest — go for quiet, not for a big-beach scene.
