At a glance
Overview
Bash Bish Falls is the state's most-photographed waterfall — a twin plunge into a boulder pool at the state line between Massachusetts and New York. The falls sit wholly in Mount Washington, MA, inside Bash Bish Falls State Park; the easier NY approach starts from Taconic State Park in Copake Falls. The MA upper lot on Falls Road drops about 0.3 miles and 300 feet to the base; the NY trail runs about 0.75 mile one way and is flatter. Swimming and cliff jumping are prohibited — there is a documented history of fatalities.
