Overview
Pawtucket Falls is the historic dam-and-cascade on the Merrimack River in downtown Lowell, at the head of the Pawtucket Canal. The Pawtucket Dam raises the head of water that fed Lowell's mill system. It is a viewing-and-interpretive stop, part of Lowell National Historical Park, with vantage points from the VFW Highway bridge area and the Pawtucket Gatehouse. Do not enter the river near the dam.

Use VFW Highway / School Street in Lowell for the dam vantage, or park at Lowell National Historical Park visitor lots downtown and walk the canalway to the Pawtucket Gatehouse. Do not climb below the dam.
