At a glance
Overview
Rock Dam is a natural stone ledge running across a channel of the Connecticut River between the Turners Falls Dam and the power canal, a historic Indigenous fishing site in what is now Montague / Turners Falls. It's a short walk down from the Patch / Canalside area; flow over the ledge varies heavily with FirstLight dam releases. Do not wade — currents below the Turners Falls Dam are dangerous and access near the canal is restricted.
