At a glance
Overview
East Rocky Gorge is the section of the Swift River just downstream of the Rocky Gorge Scenic Area footbridge on the Kancamagus Highway. It's where families spread out along the ledges below the gorge choke-point — clear pools, polished granite, and manageable current on calm days. No swimming is allowed inside the gorge itself (marked with signs); the legal swim area is downstream of the footbridge on the south side. WMNF day-use fee applies.
