Chatham, New Hampshire
A famous green plunge pool on Charles Brook at the foot of the Baldface Circle Trail in Chatham.
At a glance
Overview
Emerald Pool is a deep green plunge pool on Charles Brook at the foot of the Baldface Circle area in Chatham, an iconic Evans Notch stop. Reached from the Baldface Circle Trail parking on NH 113, the pool is a short ~0.4-mile walk — clear mountain water, cold year-round, and surrounded by polished rock walls. It's famous for cliff jumping, but the jump history also includes serious injuries because depth changes with flow and bottom rocks move year to year. Scout the pool from the bottom before you jump, or just enjoy the swim.
