At a glance
Overview
Franconia Falls is a natural granite-slide and pool system on Franconia Brook deep inside the Pemigewasset Wilderness, reached by a committed ~6.5-mile round-trip hike from Lincoln Woods on the Kancamagus Highway. The route follows the flat Wilderness / Lincoln Woods Trail ~2.8 miles to a signed side trail, then ~0.4 miles to the slides. The slides themselves are clear, polished granite with a big shallow pool and a gentle slope — a classic summer destination, but you're earning it with the walk. Group permits are required for parties of 10+ (free at the trailhead); WMNF pass required for the Lincoln Woods lot.
