Sculptured Rocks
Groton, New Hampshire
A short carved-granite Cockermouth River gorge in Groton, a NH State Parks natural area.
At a glance
Overview
Sculptured Rocks Natural Area is a NH State Parks natural area in Groton where the Cockermouth River has carved a short, narrow granite gorge with polished potholes and a small bridge overhead. The main feature sits right off Sculptured Rocks Road with a dirt lot; it is free, unstaffed, and loved locally for jumping and cold-water swimming. The gorge walls are slick and the current pushes hard through the chutes after rain, so it is not a casual wade spot.
