At a glance
Overview
Smarts Brook Swimming Hole is a clear brook pool fed by a small cascade and table rocks about a mile up the Smarts Brook Trail from the WMNF trailhead on NH 49 in Thornton. The approach walks a wide gravel old-road grade, then turns up the brook to the pool. It is a known but not-crowded summer local swim stop; the rope swing comes and goes and the ledges are slick when wet. WMNF parking pass required at the trailhead lot.
