Swiftwater Falls
Bath, New Hampshire
A block-style Wild Ammonoosuc River falls under Bath's historic Swiftwater Covered Bridge, with a big swimming pool.
At a glance
Overview
Swiftwater Falls drops through a block-style ledge on the Wild Ammonoosuc River in Bath, right under the historic Swiftwater Covered Bridge (1849, Paddleford truss). The bottom plunge pool is one of the larger waterfall swim holes in northern New England - wide, deep, and warmer than most mountain pools thanks to strong western sun. It is town-owned and free, with small pull-offs near the bridge; expect fast traffic on NH 112 / Swiftwater Road and slick ledges on the falls themselves. A NH fishing license is required to fish.
