At a glance
Overview
Flume Gorge is the iconic 800-foot natural chasm at the south end of Franconia Notch State Park, with granite walls soaring 70–90 feet above the boardwalk. The full ticketed ~2-mile loop from the visitor center takes you through the Flume itself (climaxing at Avalanche Falls at the top of the gorge), past the Sentinel Pine Covered Bridge and the Pool, and back via the ridge trail. Tickets required; no dogs inside the Flume; open seasonally (generally mid-May through late October). One of the most-visited attractions in the White Mountains — arrive early or buy timed tickets online.
