Overview
Alton on the Wood River is an unofficial river swim reached from the Alton Landing DEM fishing-access site in Hopkinton, just upstream of Carolina. There are no lifeguards and no sanctioned swim area — people enter near the gravel lot and concrete ramp and use the river's slower pools. The Alton Pond Dam about 15 feet high is nearby; stay well clear of it.

Getting there
From Route 91 in Alton village (Hopkinton), follow signs to the DEM Alton Landing fishing-access site. Use the gravel lot by the concrete boat ramp. The swim pools are along the river edge; the dam is just downstream, do not approach it.
