At a glance
Overview
Shannock Horseshoe Falls is a section of whitewater on the Pawcatuck River at Shannock village in Richmond. The original horseshoe-shaped dam was removed in 2010; the curve of ledge still shapes the drop, now a Class III rapids with a fish ladder alongside. Access is on Railroad Street off Shannock Village Road, with a small parking area just east of the falls.

Getting there
From Route 2 or Route 112, follow Shannock Village Road into Shannock. Turn onto Railroad Street; the small parking area and river overlook are just east of the rapids. Do not attempt to run the drop without expert-level whitewater skill — the portage is on the river-right bank.
