At a glance
Overview
Woonsocket Falls is the 30+ foot drop at the Woonsocket Falls Dam, a concrete overflow dam on the Blackstone River right in downtown Woonsocket. It is also the penstock dam for the Thundermist hydroelectric facility and part of the federal flood-risk program. The best view is from River Island Art Park on Bernon Street, or from the pedestrian crossing at Market Square on South Main Street. It is a framed urban dam scene, not a swim.

Getting there

Alternatively, walk from Market Square across the pedestrian bridge over South Main Street for the downtown vantage. Do not approach the dam face or the penstock gates.
