Getting there
Delta Park is a 55-acre Winooski Valley Park District natural area in Colchester at the mouth of the Winooski River where it meets Lake Champlain. Park at the small WVPD lot at the end of Windemere Way (off Porters Point / Airport Parkway) and pick up the packed-gravel path that leads past the Island Line Trail toward the delta. The Driftwood Beach access trail branches to the left and drops onto over a half-mile of natural sandy shoreline facing Lake Champlain. NOTE: Delta Park is managed primarily as protected habitat (state-threatened Beach Pea, turtle nesting) and is NOT a designated municipal swim beach. Stay on the designated trail and boardwalk, keep off roped / posted habitat areas, and respect any seasonal closures.
