Getting there
Swimming at the old Dog Team Tavern hole on the New Haven River is NO LONGER POSSIBLE. The original 1937 Dog Team Tavern burned in 2006, the land has been redeveloped as private residential property, and the historically-used swim access is posted; New England Waterfalls lists the spot as 'Not Possible and/or Prohibited' for swimming, with the remaining river access generally limited to fishermen working the shoreline easement. Do not route visitors to the 1448 Dog Team Road parcel. If you want a good New Haven River swim nearby, point people to Circle Current (Bristol Memorial Park Falls / Bartlett Falls) or to Bristol Falls instead.
