Getting there
Jamaica State Park is at 48 SALMON HOLE LANE, Jamaica, VT 05343 -- the West River day-use area and river swim access sit directly below the park's main day-use lot. From VT 100 in Jamaica village, turn onto Depot Street and follow Jamaica State Park signs to the park entrance. Pay the standard VT State Parks day-use fee, park in the day-use lot, and walk the short path to the West River shoreline. this guide describes the broader riverside day-use experience (picnic, wade, riverside hang) rather than the specific Salmon Hole pool -- see the sibling row 'jamaica-state-park-salmon-hole' for the designated swim pool itself. WATCH FOR UPSTREAM RELEASES: Ball Mountain Dam (US Army Corps) releases for spring / fall boating weekends can raise West River levels very quickly. No lifeguard; no dogs in the swim area (dogs allowed elsewhere in the park on leash).
