Getting there
Lake Shaftsbury State Park is at 262 SHAFTSBURY STATE PARK RD, Shaftsbury, VT 05262. IMPORTANT: ignore any stored text referencing Waterbury Center State Park or Reservoir Road -- that's a completely different park. From Bennington, take VT 7A NORTH for 10 miles; the park entrance is signed on the east side of the highway. Park at the day-use lot (standard VT State Parks fee). The DEVELOPED SANDY SWIM BEACH is at the north end of the 12-acre lake, gentle and favored for young families. No lifeguards; no pets on the sandy beach. A 1-mile loop trail circles the lake for a short post-swim walk. Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
