Getting there
Lake Willoughby North Beach is a FREE public sandy beach at the north end of Lake Willoughby in Westmore (Orleans County, Northeast Kingdom). From I-91 Exit 23 (Lyndonville), take US 5 north to Barton, then VT 5A south about 5 miles to the signed public beach on the west side of VT 5A at the north end of the lake. The beach looks SOUTH into the Willoughby Gap -- the iconic view framed by Mount Pisgah (east) and Mount Hor (west). Calmer and less crowded than the south end. COLD spring-fed water; no lifeguard. Limited restroom / amenity support; this is a quiet local beach, not a developed park.
