Getting there
Lake Willoughby South Beach (West Cove) is the public sandy shoreline at the SOUTH END of Lake Willoughby within WILLOUGHBY STATE FOREST in Westmore (Orleans County, NEK). From VT 5A at the south end of the lake, park at the signed pull-off on the west shoulder and follow the short path down to the beach at West Cove. HEADS UP -- PUBLIC NOTICE: the South Beach / West Cove is widely known as a CLOTHING-OPTIONAL / de facto nude beach in the summer months; families planning to visit should set expectations accordingly or head to the North Beach instead. Portable toilets are installed at the south end during summer. COLD spring-fed water, no lifeguard, short rough-stone walk. The adjacent Mount Pisgah South Trailhead uses the same lot.
