Getting there
Little River State Park sits on the west shore of the Waterbury Reservoir at 3444 Little River Road, Waterbury. Swim access inside the park is reserved for registered campers, with small beaches and rocky shoreline points along the campground loops. Day-use visitors who show up at the Little River gate looking for a public swim beach are routinely pointed across the reservoir to Waterbury Center State Park at 177 Reservoir Road, which is the designated day-use beach on the same water. If you are staying in the Little River campground, walk down to the nearest shoreline access from your loop and scout footing before swimming; if you are day-tripping, drive to Waterbury Center instead. To reach the park, take US 2 west from the VT 100 junction in Waterbury, then turn north on Little River Road for about 3.5 miles. Pets are not permitted on the day-use beaches.
