Getting there
Maidstone State Park sits on Maidstone Lake, a deep glacial lake in the Northeast Kingdom at 5956 Maidstone Lake Road, Guildhall. From Bloomfield, drive about 5 miles south on VT 102 along the Connecticut River, then turn southwest onto State Forest Highway (Maidstone Lake Road) and continue about 5 miles to the park entrance. The day-use beach is a short walk from the day-use lot and opens at 10 a.m. through sunset from Friday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Standard Vermont State Parks day-use fees apply: five dollars for adults fourteen and up, two dollars for children four through thirteen, and free for kids three and under. The water is clear and cold most of the summer. Pets are not permitted on the beach or in the designated swim area. There are no lifeguards.
