Getting there
The North Branch Cascades Trail is a short route in Worcester above the North Branch of the Winooski River, in the broader Putnam State Forest / Worcester Range corridor north of Montpelier. The route is lightly blazed and passes a stepped series of brook cascades rather than one named waterfall. Access is off the town road that parallels the North Branch; park in a allowed pull-off and follow the worn path, which reads clearest when the brook has enough water to show the steps. Conditions change fast after rain and the rocks around the cascades stay slippery; this is a look-only stop, not a swim. For a developed nearby destination, the day-use area at Wrightsville Reservoir in Montpelier is the area's best bet.
