Getting there
Nulhegan Pond sits inside the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge's Nulhegan Basin Division in Brunswick, deep in the Northeast Kingdom. The refuge manages the Nulhegan Basin for moose, boreal forest species, and cold-water fisheries; Nulhegan Pond is one of several fishing and paddling waters in the unit. Swim access here is informal -- there is no developed beach and no lifeguard -- but the pond shore gives you a remote, quiet cool-off stop if you are already paddling or fishing in the basin. To reach the pond, follow VT 105 into Brunswick and turn onto the gated refuge access roads per posted refuge signage; leave gates as you find them and respect any seasonal closures tied to nesting or moose sensitivity. Cell service is limited across the Nulhegan Basin; plan for full-tank, full-water visits.
