Getting there
Oakledge Park is Burlington's south-end public waterfront on Lake Champlain, off Flynn Avenue at the end of Oakledge Drive. The park combines rocky and small-sandy swim coves, the accessible Forever Young Treehouse, Vermont's first universally accessible playground, picnic shelters, and the Burlington Greenway bike path. Two paid lots serve the park during the season. Pets are not allowed on the swim areas or in the water, but they are welcome on the paved paths and grassy areas. The shore is mostly ledges and cobbles rather than sand, so water shoes help with footing and with the zebra mussel shells along the shoreline. The park is monitored with Burlington's other beaches for cyanobacteria and E. coli; check the Burlington Parks swim water page before a bloom-risk day. For the most accessible swim entry, use the Forever Young Treehouse area, which ties into the accessible paths and beach approach.
