Getting there
Reading Hole is the local nickname for an informal swim pocket on one of the small brooks that run through Reading, Windsor County. It is not a canonical named swim hole and carries no signed access; the surrounding land is largely private. Most of what passes for a stop here is a quick cool-off during a drive along VT 106 between Woodstock and South Reading. Park fully clear of the travel lane on a allowed shoulder, respect any posted signage, and scout the water for depth before committing. For a developed Windsor County day out, North Hartland Lake USACE beach, Silver Lake State Park beach in Barnard, and Buttermilk Falls in Ludlow are the stronger targets.
