Getting there
Stillwater State Park sits on the southern tip of Lake Groton at 44 Stillwater Road, Groton, inside Groton State Forest in Caledonia County. The park combines a sandy designated swim area, a day-use picnic area, and a campground of tent, RV, and lean-to sites; the beach is shared by campers and day users. Lake Groton is the same four-hundred-acre lake served by Boulder Beach State Park on the west shore, so on busy weekends visitors sometimes shuttle between the two sides for space. Day-use hours are 10 a.m. to sunset with standard Vermont State Parks day-use fees; the park runs from Memorial Day weekend through the second Monday in October. There is no lifeguard, and pets are not allowed on the beach or in the designated swim area. From US 302 in Groton, follow VT 232 north about six miles and watch for the park entrance on the right.
