Getting there
Thunderhead View is a local name for a swim pocket on a river in Hancock, Addison County, most likely along the White River or Hancock Branch where VT 100 and VT 125 cross in town. It is not a canonical destination, the banks around this stretch are a mix of Green Mountain National Forest and private land, and there is no formal signage. Park in a allowed pull-off, walk the short path, and respect any posted boundaries. The river here runs cold most of the summer and reacts quickly after rain. For a more established Hancock-area stop, Texas Falls Recreation Area off VT 125 is the well-known scenic destination (viewing only, no swim) and the White River pull-offs along VT 100 below Rochester village are the area's better swim water.
