Getting there
Wrightsville Reservoir is the 240-acre flood-control reservoir on the North Branch of the Winooski River in Middlesex, Washington County, jointly managed by the towns of Montpelier, East Montpelier, and Middlesex. The headline swim is Wrightsville Beach on the south end of the reservoir, a town-run day-use area with a sandy swim beach, picnic tables and grills, reservable picnic shelters, a boat launch, hiking trails, and a disc-golf course. The 2026 season opens Friday, May 22 and runs through Labor Day, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to dusk. Access requires a modest day-use fee; season passes are available. There is no lifeguard. Check the Vermont FPR Recreational Water Status page for cyanobacteria advisories in high summer. From I-89 Exit 8 in Montpelier, follow VT 12 north about three miles and watch for the Wrightsville Beach entrance on the right.
