Getting there
East Calais Cascades are a series of low-angle, somewhat degraded cascades on the Kingsbury Branch (a tributary of the Winooski) at the village of East Calais on VT 14. The former mill dam was removed in recent years, which changed the character of the flow, and the 1988 Vermont DEC waterfalls survey describes this as a minor roadside feature rather than a destination. View briefly from the village shoulder on VT 14 or the town sidewalk near the old mill site; there is no developed trail or overlook, and the banks are on a mix of town road right-of-way and private residential land. Treat this as a very quick stop, not a hike.
