Getting there
Hamilton Falls is a dramatic ~125-ft tiered cascade on Cobb Brook in the Hamilton Falls Natural Area, Jamaica (Windham County) -- and one of Vermont's deadliest waterfalls, with 12+ fatalities documented by Vermont FPR and New England Waterfalls. The RECOMMENDED approach is from JAMAICA STATE PARK via the West River Trail + Switch Road Trails, roughly 3 miles one way, with trail-system closures possible after Hurricane Irene-era landslides and more recent flood damage (check Jamaica State Park alerts / Trail Finder before going). A very limited upper-end parking option exists on West Windham Road, but it is heavily restricted and not a good plan. SWIMMING IS NOT RECOMMENDED -- the middle and upper pools have strong current, smooth undercut rock, no safe exit, and a long history of deaths; the state actively discourages access to the upper tiers. View from designated overlooks only.
