Getting there
Northfield Falls is a short cascade on the Dog River at the village of Northfield Falls, just north of Northfield village. The village is best known for the cluster of three covered bridges at the Cox Brook Road junction with VT 12, and the falls sit near that crossroads. Park legally on village side streets and walk to the bridges for the view; do not park on VT 12. This is a short scenic stop tied to the covered bridges, not a swim. For a real Washington County swim, the Wrightsville Reservoir in Montpelier and the Waterbury Reservoir day-use at Waterbury Center State Park are the developed choices.
